History

While their about page doesn’t delve deep into their history, Optimizely focuses on helping companies create their content and their lifecycle. They’ve helped popular businesses such as H&M, PayPal, Zoom, Toyota, and over 10,000 other businesses.

Requirements

While there are requirements needed to run Optimizely, they are gated behind a consultation / sign-up to a specific service, that being their content management system service.

Hosted / Self-Hosted

Kind of a similar story here, I couldn’t find much of whether Optimizely allows self-hosting, or if it’s strictly a plan based service. Based on the fact that I couldn’t really progress without getting a quote, I get the impression that they only host the service, and don’t allow for self-hosting.

Price

Again, I couldn’t find a price point with Optimizely, as I need to fulfill a quote to be able to get a price range.

User Base

Doing some external research, I found that Optimizely is used by over 55,000 companies, most of which are smaller businesses, and specialize in finances. In addition, it seems that some large film / entertainment based companies use Optimizely, such as Dolby and Zoom, with other big ones being Mazda and Xerox.
